Inspiration

The cat art of beckyzimm

For years I planned to paint portraits of my cats. Where other people would have a kid portrait gallery, I would have a cat portrait gallery. I had the perfect space for the portraits in my first house in New Jersey but no time to paint.

When I moved to Arizona in 2005, I started drawing Christmas cards to send back east to family, friends and clients from my interior design business. As a life-long adopter and lover of cats, it seemed fitting that cats be my muses. After the first Whisker Lickin’ Christmas card, I drew one each year and many in between. Some are portraits of my cats. Some are not. My cats are everyone’s cats; the cats next door. My mediums are watercolor, watercolor pencil, ink, colored pencil and fabric.

I do it all. I draw, I paint, I sew, I box and I ship.
